UHD Greets Students during Welcome Week on Jan. 19 - 23

The University of Houston-Downtown has scheduled a series of events to kick off the spring 2021 semester. Assembled by the Division of Student Affairs, Welcome Week will include four days of virtual or socially distanced events, all free of charge. Highlights including online scavenger hunts, fitness demonstrations, social media challenges, mental wellness seminars, a drive-in movie and a food and care package distribution.

"The start of a new semester is the perfect time to put plans in place and Finish UHD Strong. Welcome Week will look and feel a lot different; However, the engagement opportunities are at an all-time high," said Tremaine Kwasikpui, director of Student Activities. "Students can expect opportunities to connect virtually, prepare academically, fuel their success with the Food Fair and relax with an evening drive-in movie. I cannot be more excited to see what the future holds."

Welcome Week is an opportunity to introduce new Gators to the University and greet returning ones. The week’s overall purpose is to provide programming that will assist with connecting students to peers, faculty, staff, student organizations and resources both on and off the campus that will bolster their success. Further, it enhances the UHD student collegiate experience, promotes school spirit and engages students in traditions that encourages them to stay connected to the University for years to come.
