President's Message: Congratulations Graduates
Greetings, UHD Gators.
As we prepare for the August Commencement – UHD's 70th Commencement Ceremony – let me be among the first to wish our newest graduates a heartfelt congratulations. Reaching this milestone is a hard enough task on its own. When that journey was compounded by the struggles wrought by the pandemic, reaching this moment became even more challenging.
But you did it. Through your drive and determination, you weathered the storm. And just like you rose to the occasion to earn your degree, we know that you’ll also be prepared to tackle any endeavor you choose in your future.
I recognize that you officially graduated earlier this year if not last year, but it will be an honor to confer your degrees in person this weekend. I know that I will do so for a group of UHD students who balanced both the mission and the precision to attain this mark. Whether you were with us for just a couple of years or if your journey to earn your degree took a nontraditional path – you are forever a part of our family.
This celebration will also signify an achievement of our faculty and staff. Just as you have worked diligently … and waited patiently … to reach this moment, the UHD staff and faculty have invested their time and effort to help each of you to meet this occasion.
Take a moment to thank your professors and the UHD staff, and also embrace this celebration with your friends and loved ones. And most of all, take a second to congratulate yourself. You put in the work. You reaped the reward. And now you have earned the ability to give yourself due credit for all you have accomplished during your time with UHD.
I am excited for Saturday's Commencement, and I even more so look forward to hearing your success stories now that you will join the illustrious ranks of our UHD alumni society. We are, and always will be, proud of what you have accomplished during your time as a student … and the lasting impact you will make in the future.
