Congrats, New Student Government Association (SGA) Officers!
By Marie Jacinto
Equity and inclusion are fundamental to Student Success, and engagement in student government is one of the many ways students can take action to ensure UHD is fulfilling its mission. Thanks to an engaged UHD community, more than 30 candidates ran for eight positions in UHD’s Student Government Association (SGA). Congratulations are in order for these newly elected officers of the Student Government Association!

“As the new Student Government Association President, I plan to strengthen internal systems and reinstate transparency at UHD,” said Jesus Nieto. “My administration and I will accomplish this by curating an atmosphere on campus where everyone feels welcomed and involved.”
“This election was a positive shift in the right direction for the Student Government Association and the UHD student body,” said Eugene Bernard, Director of Student Life. “We were excited to see the positive response from students interested in running for office during this election cycle, and we are eager to see how the new SGA will advocate and empower the UHD community and student body.”
So with a new year comes new student leadership! UHD’s “new” SGA promises great things for 2023.
