2021 Community Engagement Virtual Appreciation Ceremony Planned for May 6

The University of Houston-Downtown's Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning (CCESL) will host a ceremony to celebrate the previous year's worth of accomplishments on May 6 at 1 p.m.

The hour-long event will include remarks from students, staff, and faculty to share their experiences in the range of CCESL offerings. Guests will include participants from the Community Scholars Program; community engagement grantees and mentors; community engagement interns; Satya Raj Scholarship recipients; Newman Fellows; faculty and students from service learning courses as well as academic A+CE engagement courses, the CE/SL Committee, and community partners.

The ceremony will cap off this year’s work taking place at CCESL. Through academic and co-curricular community engagement activities as well as a variety of service learning course options, the center connects UHD students with opportunities to learn and grow in the greater Houston community. By fostering relationships between students and the surrounding community, the center helps to benefits students' ability to think critically about the world around them while simultaneously developing creative solutions to community issues.
